This meme is taking place in the setting of Darstone, so while you may leave your comment blank, I'd like to recommend you set up a scene or two in your initial comment. Some suggested settings are provided below, but make up whatever you'd like based off the setting pages! ⑴ Job Hunting. If you don't want to stay in the assigned housing, then you're going to need cash, and if you want cash, you're going to need a job- lucky for you there seem to be plenty of those on the job board. ⑵ Arriving/Housing. You've just gotten here and finally made it to your assigned apartment, but it turns out you have roommates, and they're one of them. ⑶ Adventuring. Whether out into the surrounding caves or taking a boat onto the lake, you're adventuring, maybe on a quest. Whoever's with you might be a member of your party-- or they might be trying to beat you to the reward.

[Disciple steps into the apartment, yawning, tired after a long night's hunt. But not so tired that she doesn't pick up on the new scent as soon as she's through the door, someone new. A new roommate, perhaps?]

[faker]

[Nepeta's been a little anxious since arriving in Darstone, mostly out of worry for the friends she'd left behind. she felt for the city's problems, she really did, but she wished that she hadn't been the only one pulled out of the Veil. it seemed to be much safer here.

she's been sitting in her room for some time, arranging and re-arranging her things and generally being a little restless. this place obviously was lived in before she'd arrived, which meant that someone was eventually going to return to it. it was nerve-wracking to say the least.

when the sound of someone entering finally reaches her ears she starts a little, instinctively pulling her hood closer around her face. time to get things started. Nepeta hoped that whoever it was was friendly enough.

she slides off the bed and pads to the doorway, peering out a little shyly.]

Hello?

Oh, hello there! Are you ne...

[New gets stuck in Di's throat and her welcoming smile freezes on her face when she gets her first glimpse of the younger troll, blinking at her in surprise. Those horns! They're as familiar to her as her own, because they are her own, or at least how hers used to be when she was younger. Even her face looks almost identical to hers as a wriggler.

She's staring rather, too surprised to realize she's probably being rather rude.]

[Nepeta herself tenses up a little both at the Disciple's reaction as well as her appearance. not only an unfamiliar troll, but an unfamiliar adult troll? not exactly the best person she could have for a roommate ever.

but staring at each other like hoofbeasts caught in headlights wasn't going to make anything better. they were going to be living with each other for some time, so they might as well at least try and make things amiable. even if Nepeta was a little frightened.

she smiles hesitantly, pulling back into her hood a little more]

New? Yeah, just a little bit.

[Disciple shakes herself out of it as soon as she catches scent of Nepeta's unease - she always forgets how some of the younger trolls here are terrified of adults.]

I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to stare! You just look incredibly familiar.

[The warm, welcoming smile is back on her face, and she takes a step closer, looking a tad curious but at least not making any move to reach out and touch the girl.]

I'm Disciple. I'm guessing you're my new hivemate?

It's all right, really. [her smile broadens a little and she finally sidles out of the doorway. it's a potentially dangerous situation but Nepeta has never shared living space with anyone but her lusus, and it's a little exciting to think about]

And I sure hope I am, or I just unpacked in somebody else's respiteblock! My name is Nepeta.

[Oh goodness, she's such a cute little troll! Di can't help but beam at her. Had she ever really been this young?]

No, that one's been free for a while now! Nepeta - oh! Oh, I should have known! Equius told me about you!

[she perks up immediately at that name, looking ridiculously hopeful]

Equius? He's here?

[She nods for emphasis, grinning.] I've spoken to him a few times, and he speaks of you so very fondly. He's going to be so happy you're here! And I'm really happy I'm getting to meet you, I've wanted to so much...

He better be imclawsibly happy to see me or I'm going to smack him so hard! [she giggles, much more at ease. if Equius was here (and friends with Disciple) then everything would probably be ok]

I just hope I live up to your expectations! I've never had somebody who wanted to meet me specifically.

Somehow I don't think there'll be any need for you to do much smacking! [Di giggles in response as well, the sound an echo of Nepeta's own giggling.]

Oh, no, don't say that, I don't have an expectations for you to live up to! I just wanted to get to meet you and talk to you, perhaps for us to be friends. That's all.

I hope not! That'd be a shell of a way to say hello in a completely new universe.

I'd really like if we could be friends. [Nepeta didn't really have that many, given her circumstances. the idea of making another is always thrilling] And I think that we'll be talking a clawful lot, all things considered.

Of course we will! We're going to be hivemates after all. [And Disciple is dying to share Equius' theory that she and Nepeta may be ancestor and descendant, but she knows it's too much to spring on her when she's only just arrived.] Have you been settling in all right? Would you like me to show you around?

I've been doing pretty well, I think. It's not the first time I've had to move suddenly. [this is much better than Medium -> Veil, however]

But I'd love to have a tour with you or something! I was sort of in a hurry to find my new hive and didn't get to explore everywhere I wanted to.

I know what that can be like. We were almost always on the move back home, we rarely got to settle in anywhere.

But we get to make ourselves comfortable here at least! Here, let me show you around the hive first, and then we can go outside if you'd like.

[faker]

I'd like that a clawful lot, thank you. [she finally comes all the way away from the doorway, although still not close enough to touch]

It must have been really exciting to travel and see so many new places, though! I'm a little jealous.

[whomheloved]

Oh, it was! But I must have been at least your age before I started travelling, there's plenty of time for you to get to do that too.

[Disciple would very much like to get closer to her, to give her a hug to fend off all that wariness she senses from the younger troll. But she knows that Nepeta needs to get used to her in her own time, so she just smiles at her and leads her through the hive to start their little tour.]

This is the food preparation block over here - the cupboards are pretty well stocked for now so just help yourself until you get used to the place, okay?

[Nepeta follows along dutifully, thankful for the distraction to shoo away their past topic of conversation. she didn't really want to think about the unlikeliness of her ever traveling.

she looks at everything pointed out to her with keen interest. she's really quite curious about this whole world, and her new hive is as good a place to start with as any.]

Sure thing! Although I hope that I can get used to things quickly enough that I can start getting my own stuff for meals; it'd be nice to have one together.

I'm sure that you will! If there's anything in particular you want in the meantime just let me know and I'll get it for you. We can visit the markets and shops first of all when we go exploring, that way you'll know where everything is.

[She gets a packet of cookies down from a cupboard, opening it up and offering it to Nepeta with a grin.]

And yes, of course we can do that! We'll invite Equius too, if you'd like that.

Oh yes, I'd clawsitively love for him to be there too! It hasn't been that long for me since I last saw him, but I guess from his perspective it's been a while.

[she takes a cookie or two thankfully, mouth twisting up in confusion]

At least, I think that's how it works. I'm no good at time shenanigans.

[Disciple takes a bite of a cookie of her own, looking pensive.]

We only started arriving here a few weeks ago. It probably hasn't been too long for him. But I think he's been missing you anyway.

Even a few weeks can feel like a while if you're away from someone really close to you. [she nibbles on the edge of a cookie thoughtfully]

At least that's how I'd feel if it were me.

That's true. I was only separated from my beloved for a day or so before he was brought here too, but even that much felt like forever.

Oh gosh, I can imagine! It really hurts not knowing when you're going to see people again.
