This meme is taking place in the setting of Darstone, so while you may leave your comment blank, I'd like to recommend you set up a scene or two in your initial comment. Some suggested settings are provided below, but make up whatever you'd like based off the setting pages! ⑴ Marketplace. There's a lot to do in the market-- not just buying goods and window shopping, but sitting down for a cup of coffee at an outdoor table, or getting a drink at a bar. ⑵ Housing. You've just gotten here and finally made it to your assigned apartment, but it turns out you have roommates, and they're one of them. ⑶ Adventuring. Whether out into the surrounding caves or taking a boat onto the lake, you're adventuring, maybe on a quest. Whoever's with you might be a member of your party-- or they might be trying to beat you to the reward. ⑷ Snow. What's snow doing in a cave? Isn't this weird? Well, Darstone is situated under a frosty mountain peak, and from time to time the local mages like to simulate the weather that's going on up above. That means there's some very light, fluffy snow falling from the cave ceiling right now.

[She scratches a particularly affectionate little kitten behind its ears, purring softly at it as she rubs their faces together - before realizing she's been asked a question.]

Oh! A planet called Alternia. Nowhere in particular there though, I've spent much of my life travelling.

A... Planet? Like from space?

[OH DEAR HE CAN'T TELL AMERICA BECAUSE HE CAN'T KNOW ABOUT ALIENS EXISTING THAT WOULD MEAN ENGLAND WAS WRONG THE WHOLE TIME AAA]

Mmhmm, that's right! Doesn't your world have space travel yet?

[It would explain his surprise, she guesses! It's not like she knows all that much about worlds beyond Alternia.]

[he shakes his head. he's from 1943 so...]

Well, it's something trolls have had for a while now. Not that they've been making the best use of it...

[Yeah, she kind of disapproves of the whole conquering planets and subjugating other races that the Empire is doing.]

Trolls? You're a troll from space? but he thought trolls lived under bridges... and were ugly... she's pretty!]

[She tosses her head back, laughing.] I suppose you could put it that way!

What's it like where you're from, then? [Oh hey, kitten on her shoulder! She reaches up and snags it for cuddles.]

Well, I come from earth. It's rainy at my home. It's surrounded by water and a lot of greenery.

It's an island? It must be a bit scary, having it completely surrounded by water that way...

It's not that scary. It's a rather large island. And I'm able to go elsewhere. We all are, I mean. My people, and I.

Mm, I suppose it probably isn't that bad then. I just...well, I find large spaces of water a bit unsettling! Even though we travelled over some a few times, it never stopped being terrifying.

...your people? Are you a leader to them?

[blink... he rubs the back of his head]

Well, I suppose... In some ways...

Just in some ways?

Ah, yes... I don't have the final say over matters, like the King. But the people are mine... I'm not. Human.

[Di is puzzled at that, blinking in incomprehension.]

You look just like the other humans, though. Then what are you?

[he's puzzled by many things here! like this troll from outer space that loves kittens...]

I'm a country.

A country? What's a country? [Whoops, sorry, England. Alternia's just one whole Empire that isn't split up into countries because that would defeat the purpose. Di has no idea what he means.]

[weeeeeell that's a bit better than having to explain exactly how he is essentially a landmass. he sighs and thinks about what to tell her]

I suppose you could say that I provide many people with a home. I am nothing without the people. I feed on their love for me, and I gain strength from them. I only hurt when they do.

[His explanation is greeted with quiet contemplation from her, and when he's done she nods her head slowly a couple of times.] You sound like a better leader than any I've ever heard of. And the only one who cares about their people more than anything else.
