This meme is taking place in the setting of Darstone, so while you may leave your comment blank, I'd like to recommend you set up a scene or two in your initial comment. Some suggested settings are provided below, but make up whatever you'd like based off the setting pages! ⑴ Job Hunting. If you don't want to stay in the assigned housing, then you're going to need cash, and if you want cash, you're going to need a job- lucky for you there seem to be plenty of those on the job board. ⑵ Arriving/Housing. You've just gotten here and finally made it to your assigned apartment, but it turns out you have roommates, and they're one of them. ⑶ Adventuring. Whether out into the surrounding caves or taking a boat onto the lake, you're adventuring, maybe on a quest. Whoever's with you might be a member of your party-- or they might be trying to beat you to the reward.

I hadn't thought of myself as a captive. Thus far, it's been reasonably pleasant, all things considered.

[A pregnant pause] Did the highblood subjugglate you, as well?

Reasonably pleasant might as well mean softening us up. I mean, okay, I'm glad that this isn't some kind of torture porn nightmare so far, don't get me wrong, but that doesn't mean I'm going to say hey, here is my back, all nice and unstabbed, why don't you fucking fix that! You can't let your guard down in an unfamiliar situation.

[ Another pause gets uncomfortably knocked up. Then, slowly, as if he's not entirely sure all of Equius's neurons are firing in the right order: ]

Zahhak, anyone higher than me with any kind of consequence on my life is on our side and definitely not a clown cultist.

[Equius feels the words as a rebuke. Though Karkat is a mutant-blood and unworthy of much consideration, he did give him his loyalty, so he hunches his shoulders slightly and a bit of sweat springs up on his brow.] I assure you, I'm not so foolish as that. But it's not as though there's truly anywhere to go, if we were to leave here. Uh. So I thought.

[He frowns. Clown cultist? He gives Karkat the same sort of look, as if he's not sure he's all there] I'm talking about Gamzee Makara.

[dedicatheist]

[ Karkat narrows his eyes suspiciously - then sighs, clapping his hand on Equius's shoulder sympathetically. ]

There, there. You're obviously just addled by whatever the hell kind of game of Operation they decided to play with your brain, I'm sure it was terrible.

[ Because Gamzee? A highblood? Pshhhhhhhhhh. ]

[Equius stiffens at the touch, blinking in surprise] No, I'm not! You don't remember contacting me and ordering me to find him?

[Equius opens his mouth, then closes it, then takes another look at Karkat]

...You are not my Karkat Vantas. What is your blood colour?

[ His first, automatic reaction is one of panic, internally, at that harsh and suspicious tone - does he know? How, how did he find out? Fuck, am I going to have to kill Aradia's boyfriend, how would I ever explain that to her, I don't even have the treatments here so if he finds out I can't disprove it-

His voice is measured when he speaks, though, with a few notes of outrage. ]

Lime. [The word is said somewhat flatly, but he accepts it without doubt] The Karkat Vantas I know is not lime-blooded. His blood is an unnatural shade of red. [He shrugs] Much as the Tavros I know is orange-blooded, while the Tavros here is purple, and Sollux is a tyrian, instead of yellow. These things happen, here.

[ Karkat restrains himself from flinching at "red." He does look...pretty weirded out by that mention of Sollux and Tavros, though. ]

Yeah, Nitram's an orange and Sollux is pure gold where I'm from, too. Well, I guess that's a few points to the "fever dream" theory, because I really don't know how this could get weirder or more ludicrous. Next you'll be telling me Aradia's not the Empress in Waiting and you're not flushed to the tips of your fucked-up horns for her.

[He chokes at the 'Empress in Waiting' bit, then turns blue as a berry at the second part] My...my feelings for Aradia are irrelevant here. But she is most certainly not an Empress. She's a rust-blood!
